God gets angry with His people.
Moses is called friend and God shelters him From God's righteousness and power. We cannot stand in the presence of God without Christ.
God then gives the law again. He has Moses write it down I am unsure if the significance of this but I am sure it is great.
God asks the people to make a freewill offering to Him. Giving out of their heart to Him.
I just think that it is interesting that the book ends of these chapters both have to do with giving. God giving the law and Israel giving gifts to make God's house beautiful.

The cost Ex 32:25-29
25And when Moses saw that the people had broken loose (for Aaron had let them break loose,(CV) to the derision of their enemies), 26then Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said, "Who is on the LORD’s side? Come to me." And all the sons of Levi gathered around him. 27And he said to them, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel, 'Put your sword on your side each of you, and go to and fro from gate to gate throughout the camp, and each of you(CW) kill his brother and his companion and his neighbor.'" 28And the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses. And that day about three thousand men of the people fell. 29And Moses said, "Today you have been(CX) ordained for the service of the LORD, each one at the cost of his son and of his brother, so that he might bestow a blessing upon you this day."
This is screwed up. God asked these men to kill their families and friends for His sake because they sinned. He then ordained them. God said because you will be obedient unto death and I think the death of a loved one when you have to kill them is worse than your own. Go called for a horrible thing and called it good. Do we trust our own judgment or His?

OT and NT principals still the same
11The LORD said to Moses, 12(L) "When you take the census of the people of Israel, then each shall give(M) a ransom for his life to the LORD when you number them, that there be no plague among them when you number them. 13Each one who is numbered in the census shall give this: half a shekel[b] according to the(N) shekel of the sanctuary (the(O) shekel is twenty gerahs),[c](P) half a shekel as an offering to the LORD. 14Everyone who is numbered in the census, from twenty years old and upward, shall give the LORD’s offering. 15The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less, than(Q) the half shekel, when you give the LORD’s offering to make atonement for your lives. 16You shall take the atonement money from the people of Israel and shall(R) give it for the service of the tent of meeting, that it may bring the people of Israel to(S) remembrance before the LORD, so as to make atonement for your lives."
We all need to be ransomed. In the OT the Jews payed the slave price with money. In the NT Jesus paid it with His blood. Either way humanity was and is in bondage to sin. We are slaves and we need to be ransomed. Atonement needs to be made to God's justice and righteousness before we can be acceptable to Him and enjoy fellowship with Him.
God never changes even after thousands of years the price still needed to be payed.
1The LORD said to Moses, 2"See, I have called by name(AP) Bezalel the son of Uri, son of(AQ) Hur, of the tribe of Judah, 3and I have(AR) filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, 4to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, 5in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft.
I just love that a gift from God. A spiritual gift if you will is artistic ability.
6And behold, I have appointed with him(AS) Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. And I have given to all able men(AT) ability, that they may make all that I have commanded you: 7(AU) the tent of meeting, and(AV) the ark of the testimony, and(AW) the mercy seat that is on it, and all the furnishings of the tent, 8(AX) the table and its utensils, and(AY) the pure lampstand with all its utensils, and(AZ) the altar of incense, 9and(BA) the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and(BB) the basin and its stand, 10and(BC) the finely worked garments,[f] the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, for their service as priests, 11and(BD) the anointing oil and the fragrant(BE) incense for the Holy Place. According to all that I have commanded you, they shall do."
God will equip us to do His will.

God's job and our job
Aaron also and his sons I will consecrate to serve me as priests. 45(CO) I will dwell among the people of Israel and will be their God. 46And they shall know that(CP) I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them. I am the LORD their God.
God has very specific instructions on how things are to be done. He has a standard and it is huge.
I was reading in my Child Development textbook that their is a moral stage where children have a set rule book of this is right and this is wrong it is not until later that they grow out of black and white and see complexities in circumstances and are able to make moral decisions. I have been tough both in Ethics class and in NT that the law was our school master that taught us God's standard and what He expects of us. It was a moral rule book but now we are in a new covenant. We have the Holy Spirit and are now "Grown" and able to make our own moral decisions without black and white moral rules.
God told Aaron that He would consecrate His people and make them holy for His service and that God would dwell with His people. The God of the universe chooses to live with His people. That is massive! Why would HE want to do that. We are not even what He created us to be but fallen. it is amazing. God wants to be with us and
makes us holy so we can be with Him. All we have to do is respond and obey. It is hard to lose oneself.

Christ in the OT-Aaron
9You shall take two onyx stones, and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel, 10six of their names on the one stone, and the names of the remaining six on the other stone, in the order of their birth. 11As a jeweler engraves signets, so shall you engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel. You shall enclose them in settings of gold filigree. 12And you shall set the two stones on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, as stones of remembrance for the sons of Israel. And(L) Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD on his two shoulders(M) for remembrance.
Christ is to carry the government on His shoulders. We are represented before the Lord. Aaron in the OT and Christ in the NT. I wonder if Aaron had their names printed like a signet because their names authenticated his calling. He was to be the priest for the people before the Lord. HE bore them before God. He would not have this if it were not for the people. It might have been a remembrance to Aaron of what his position was and why he had it; to represent the people.
35And it shall be on Aaron when he ministers, and its sound shall be heard when he goes into the Holy Place before the LORD, and when he comes out, so that he does not die.
God is truly a righteous God that will not permit sin in His presence even from those who serve Him. We cannot go into His presence stained without blood shed for us. Remission made for us. A forgiveness of our debt.
"You shall make(U) a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving of a signet,(V) 'Holy to the LORD.'
Ditto-We are authenticated by holiness. That is our calling and God's mark on us that we are His. Holiness.
8It shall be on Aaron’s forehead, and Aaron shall(W) bear any guilt from the holy things that the people of Israel consecrate as their holy gifts. It shall regularly be on his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD.
I don't quite understand what the would be guilty about. But Aaron bears our guilt just as Christ does.
I think it is interesting that Aaron had to put the holiness near his mind. Holiness and thought life just and observation. This is were most of the battle is fought.
41And you shall put them on Aaron your brother, and on his sons with him, and shall(Z) anoint them and ordain them and(AA) consecrate them, that they may serve me as priests. 42You shall make for them(AB) linen undergarments to cover their naked flesh. They shall reach from the hips to the thighs; 43and they shall be on Aaron and on his sons when they go into the tent of meeting or when they come near the altar to minister in the Holy Place, lest they(AC) bear guilt and die.
Nakedness/flesh equals death when brought before the Lord uncovered. The first thing at the fail was that they were naked. God says over and over lest your nakedness be revealed to me. What does it mean to Him? Sin? Our fallen nature cannot be revealed to Him uncovered, less we die? It makes sense. And it would be a constant reminder of their own sin nature if they had to wear it all the time.
And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty.
God loves beauty and majesty.
So Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel in the breastpiece of judgment on his heart, when he goes into the Holy Place, to bring them to regular(R) remembrance before the LORD. 30And in the breastpiece of judgment(S) you shall put the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be on Aaron’s heart, when he goes in before the LORD. Thus Aaron shall bear the judgment of the people of Israel on his heart before the LORD regularly.
1 Aaron was to remember the sin of the people. 2 Aaron was to care for the people (Carry them on his heart.) 3 He was to remind the Lord of the people (intercede for them.) 4 Aaron was to grieve over their sin. 5 Aaron was to bear the judgment (Figuratively)
Christ is truly our High Priest that bore our judgement in actuality. All these things were just a picture/shadow of what Christ would truly fulfill in the NT.
God is and was a pretty smart God and He dealt with His people in word pictures about the truths that would be manifested in Christ.
You are worthy of our worship for your beauty, sovereignty, holiness, wisdom, and love toward us. We can only love you because you loved us and taught us how to love. Thank you Lord for making me acceptable in your sight in Jesus name Amen.

Holy balance
8And let them make me a(H) sanctuary, that(I) I may dwell in their midst.
Wow!
God's immanence-His wanting to be with us.
Exactly as I show you concerning the pattern of the(K) tabernacle, and of all its furniture, so you shall make it.
God's transcendence- God is still God and deserves, has the right to rule over us and give us direction.
Always a balance.
Love and respect

Christ in the OT
1Then he said to Moses, "Come up to the LORD, you and Aaron,(A) Nadab, and Abihu, and(B) seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from afar. 2Moses(C) alone shall come near to the LORD, but the others shall not come near, and the people shall not come up with him." 3Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD and(D) all the rules.
We all need a mediator between us and God because we are all sinful people and enemies of God.
I wonder why Moses was allowed though because he was human also?
He rose early in the morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve(G) pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. 5And he sent young men of the people of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the LORD.
Not only do we need a mediator but we need a sacrifice to bring peace to our relationship with God. Something has to die so that we don't have to.
6And(H) Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he threw against the altar. 7Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people. And they said,(I) "All that the LORD has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient." 8(J) And Moses took the blood and threw it on the people and said, "Behold the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words."
We need blood on us to be clean. Blood on the alter satisfying God and blood on us to make us clean in His sight and as New Testament believers clean in reality.
It is interesting though that in the introduction of the covenant of the law there is still a mediator, sacrifice, and blood being spilt. It was never a question in Gods mind of us keeping the law because form the very beginning the agreement taking place to enter in to this covenant with God there was blood being spilt on our behalf.
Thank you Jesus that you have completely fulfilled all of these things in reality and we don't have to live with a picture. In your name I pray. I ask that you would walk paths with me tomorrow and keep me safe and from willful sins. Let me be quick to repent and ready to forgive. Allow me a glimpse of your love, beauty , and fearful holiness. Bring the lost to salvation and give me boldness, wisdom, and humility of mind and speech. Bring Hud and Tammi and Karri to salvation. Allow my mom to see the folly of her beliefs and let Robert be aware of her folly. I pray that he would see the truth like C.S. Lewis. In Jesus name keep me pure and dedicated tomorrow. Help me sleep and protect my mind and heart and emotions tonight. Let me find your comfort and security of worth in you and keep me from seeking my worth and fulfillment in men. In Jesus name I pray these things, Amen.

Help! I can't see You!
I have been struggeling today and yesterday. In the begginging of this week I was on a really high note with God. I got Him to talk to me. We addressed sin in my life. He answered some sweet prayers and I just felt loved. The last couple of days have been harder. I have seen His love in chapel convicting me of sin and I am feeling helpless by the way because I don't know what to do about the sin. I can't seem to stop. I am hungery for men and love. Or I =should say love and worth and I figure I will get that need met if a guy thinks I am beautiful. God has really been answering a lot of p[rayers but He has been a jerk today too. I wanted to sleep 30 min. longer because I am exausted. I felt like He was not happy so I couldn't sleeop any longer and I am angery because there was not a good resin for it thast I saw. We did nothing this mornign. He said YOU MUST READ! But I could not because i could not keep my eyes open. Then I could nto study in chapel and it ould not have helped any way because I did bad on the test. Also I couldn't eat this and I can't do my homework because God is not happy and HE is playing games again. Stop doing that do what I want you to do. I'm not gonna tell you what I want figure it out for yourself. I feel like I am the adult pampering God and placating Him so I can get my work done/do what I want.
Ok so I realize that this is not God but I don't know if He really told me these things or not and it really does nto mattwer because my body reacts so stringly that unless I know for a fact that GOd did nto sya these things nothing gets done I am miserab;le and fear increases until God comes and gets me again. How do I know I am pleasing God? HE did let me sit with Jen and she did pay attention todya but I runed because God wanted me to pay attentio and not study during chapel. i rebelled and then she started studying.
GOD is looking a lot like mom right now and I don't know what HE is reallly doing but I can't skleep until I know He is happy.
I am choosing to remain faithful because God is faithful. I can't see butr I choose the truth this will break. I am not willfully sinning in fact I can't tell what sin I am commiting but I am tired of the pattern of GOd loves me Hwe loves me not based on my oerformance god faithfully loves me due to Jesus I just don't know how that is played out in my life.

Rome wasn't built in a day.
I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the wild beasts multiply against you. 30Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased and possess the land. 31(BU) And I will set your border from the Red Sea to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the Euphrates, for(BV) I will give the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you. 32(BW) You shall make no covenant with them and their gods. 33They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me; for if you serve their gods,(BX) it will surely be a snare to you."
Up to this point God has been laying out some basic plans about the covenant. He now addresses the people. I see the modern day equivalent of God leaning sin out of our life. It will happen little by little. God cleans us and then matures us to posses the life we can now live before He does a little more. I hate me heart sometimes. It will just turn evil sometimes. God has been amazing to me the last couple of days and today I have been acting like a spoiled brat with a sense of entitlement. I can't handle a lot of blessing because I tend to treat God like a whipped lover, Do this Do that. i don't care I want to do this. I hate it. God has cleaned a lot out of my life though. Some specific sins in particular. I want Him to clean some others out and I think HE is but He is getting to the root cause and it is taking forever because God is very caring and this is a painful area and He is taking it slow. But I am still fighting the sin and it ruins my relationship with God and I hate it! Patience, is hard.

RESPECT
Ex. 22:21-3:19
(Respect your neighbor and those weaker than you-Respect people)
God watches out for the weak and for those who cannot take care of themselves. Be kind to visitors, those without a steady home. Be kind to the widow and the fatherless/orphan. Be kind to those who are down on their luck and that have no money but have to borrow from you. Do not abuse their weakness or I will abuse you. I will defend them and make you pay.
I am God. Rape will not go without punishment but the spiritual life is worth even more than that. Make a rapist/seducer pay but kill anyone that practices witchcraft (It involves idolatry and pride of wanting power on your own.) and also anyone who is sick enough to sleep with an animal.
(Respect God because HE is God and worthy of it-don't abuse Him-give Him His due)
You shall respect because I am God and I deserve it. You will give me the first of your children, field, and flock because I am God and I deserve and it is what I ask for. I come first even before you. I am to partake of the goodness even before you. it is my right as the Commander, Creator, God.
(Respect yourself-because you are associated with me and therefore have worth)
Don't eat any flesh torn by animals but give it to the dogs because you are consecrated to me. You are mine dedicated to me. I want you to act like it. You have eminent worth and honour associate with me. I chose you to be in relation to me and I want you to look, act, and represent one who is in associated with me. You have worth and deserve respect, even form yourself, by being in association with me.
(Respect the earth)
Plant six years and let the land lie fallow for a year to recuperate. This will serve the poor and the animals. Do not waste but give heartily. God cares for every ones needs sometimes/a lot of the time through people.
====================================================================
Rest on the sabbath because we all need rest people, the earth, and animals. God says it refreshes us. He knows we need rest and relaxation.
Feasts:
Have fun and enjoy the earth and your labour.
Honour me in your feats-I want to be apart of good/enjoyable things in your life.
Worship does not always have to be dower it can be enjoyable.
Purpose of feasts-To enjoy God and remember what God had done for them.
Don't honour another God.
Give me the best and the first of what you have worked for because I am God I gave it to you I am above you and I deserve it.
God loves us blesses us and gives us man;y; good things but we are never to treat Him as an equal-A buddy. He is God and deserves our worship.
Eat healthy

====================================================================
Eat healthy

Ex. 21-23 Good instruction that takes time to live out
Whoever sacrifices to any god, other than the LORD alone, shall be devoted to destruction.
Do they devote themselves or do other people devote them to...death?
You shall not wrong a sojourner or oppress him, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. 22(P) You shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child. 23If you do mistreat them, and they(Q) cry out to me, I will surely(R) hear their cry, 24and my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and(S) your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.
God is a protective and vengeful God. I feel protected as a young one and as one without a father.
If ever you take your neighbor’s cloak in pledge, you shall return it to him before the sun goes down, 27for that is his only covering, and it is his cloak for his body; in what else shall he sleep? And if he(V) cries to me, I will hear, for I am(W) compassionate.
God cares about us being mistreated.
You shall not revile God,
I am to be treated with respect, I am God.
4(AH) "If you meet your enemy’s ox or his donkey going astray, you shall bring it back to him. 5If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying down under its burden, you shall refrain from leaving him with it; you shall rescue it with him.
Love your enemy and care for his goods.
I see God saying here Live holy lives. Be good, love all, take care of the earth and all therein. Love and serve no other Gods. BE faithful, love justice and live it out. I will care for those who need me. The lowly, poor, fatherless, oppressed, and i will see justice done not any slighting of favor because a man is rich or poor. Be holy for I am holy. Care about your health because I do. Gos is giving the Jews a lot of really good advice and encouragement on how to live a good rich nourishing life.
Obey those sent to help you and have authority over you. The carry my authority. Respect them and follow them.
I think this is the best picture of Christian maturity that I have ever seen. God has done this in my life. I will be dealing with a certain thing but God will take it away little by little. I don't get my freedom from sin all at once but little by little does God free me from my sin and pain that binds me.
Do what I say and I will fight your enemies and things will go well wit you. i will bless you and keep you healthy.

Laws, laws, laws!
OK, so I am reading through chapter 21 of Ex. and it is talking about slave laws and restitution laws. Some are making me angry like "When a man strikes his slave, male or female, with a rod and the slave dies under his hand, he shall be avenged. But if the slave survives a day or two, he is not to be avenged, for the slave is his money." It is assuming that it is normal for a slave to be beaten. I don't think God wants a slave to be beaten I also don't think God thinks it is OK, so why does God make it seem like it is normal? FRUSTRATING!
This passage really confused me:
7"When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do. 8If she does not please her master, who has designated her for himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has broken faith with her. 9If he designates her for his son, he shall deal with her as with a daughter. 10If he takes another wife to himself, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, or her marital rights. 11And if he does not do these three things for her, she shall go out for nothing, without payment of money.
Is a slave his wife or the wife of his son. And if she is not cared for she can leave him? Is that not divorce?
Anyway what I saw about God relating to people is this. He planned ahead for His people a way for them to live. he was acquainted with what was happening in the world at that time and he dealt with cultural issues. He has an opinion on how things should be handled and relates that to Israel. He thinks about our lives! That is pretty cool but also weighing and scary. If Dr. Hester is right and Paul did say in Romans that Christs active obedience is passed to me than I can handel God's expectations of me because I don't have to handle them Jesus already did.

Keep your word
I have already begun this journey through scripture but I wanted to start a blog to record my thoughts about what I find. I have had a hard journey seeing how God relates to me. I wanted to see the truth of the scriptures for myself. I could not rely on another persons opinion any longer because I never really accepted them as my own anyway. I was tired of vacillating back and forth between He loves me, He loves me not. So I asked God one night if He would be willing to walk with me through a read through (Not a study because it would not drop down from my head to my heart if I did it that way.)of the Bible looking for how God relates to, well anything. I was looking at how He relates to man especially though. I asked Him for His approval because I know me and if I did not know for a fact that God wanted me to do this I would fall away form it in one way or another. i have been beginning to do just that but God has been pulling me back in and asking me to be faithful, faith filled, and trusting that He will show up in the texts. I think I hit a dry spell and a hard spell in the scriptures I was reading and gave up. I had also made it a study. Surprise! Surprise! I in short grew legalistic and tired with and of it.
Well here goes.................
Ex. 20
The first thing I see is that God is jealous. He wants His people to be dedicated to Him and not to go to other gods. Like a lover he wants Israel to not be in a relationship with any other guy. To be faithful. He also has some rules as to how we are to act toward him. God also shows Himself as other than us. Fearful, lighting, thunder. Israel did not even want to go near Him. They said you go Moses. You talk to Him and tell us what He says. Moses said do not fear Him. He does this to test you to make you fear Him so you will not sin. Don't fear Him because He wants you to fear Him. What? Don't fear that He will hurt you but fear because He could. God talked with His people and He required sacrifice. I don't understand all the stuff about the alter being made of earth and if it was made of cut stone it would be profaned or about walking up steps would reveal our nakedness. None of that makes a whole lot of sense to me but what I did get was that God had wanted relationship with Israel. He wanted to be the only God in their life and he had some rules as to how they were going to get along. Oh yeah, and God was really big and scary but He was not doing it to make them fear that He would hurt them but rather to make them see how fearful HE really was and to respect His ways. It was a safeguard to insure that the people would keep the law so that they could stay in relationship with God. Because if they feared God they would not want to go against what He said but would want to obey Him. I am struggling though because to do this there had to be the chance that He would hurt them or else what is there to fear. I wonder if it is more the motive behind the hurt. Like the difference between a spanking for discipline and a parent hitting their child. One is a good parent the other is abusive but they both hit. The only thing is the motive behind it. God was saying don't fear that I will cause you pain but know that I am capable of it.
