Ex. 37
On the ark the table and the alter the Israelites had to attach rings so that the priests could slide poles through so as to carry the objects. This speaks of the holiness of God. As relational as HE is HE is holy and deserving of our worship. HE also means it when HE says HE hates sin. I am guilty of not paying attention to this part of HIS character because it scares me to death and because I really struggle with performance based love but Jesus is the only way that we can come to GOD and HE is the only way that we are viewed as holy. I am guilty of forgetting that and GOD please forgive me for it. In JESUS name. GOD loves sinners and HE loves us but I forget HIS wrath upon sinners as well becasue HE hates sin. I thank you Jesus for dying for me so that God can not look on me and be angry. I think HE alsways saw me with love but I think HE must have seen me with anger as well and HOLY Spirit I don't understand how those two truths can be together but I ask that YOU will let me see In Jesus name. I know my fear stems from not understanding that truth and also from not seeing my relatinship now in relation to how God views me thtough Christ

ex. 36
Continuing form chapter 35 God had filled the tribe of Dan with designs and skills to build His tabernacle. Like the NT writers God did not dictate to them the exact design but instead filled them with His power and inspiration and also allowed them to use their own mind and ideas and becasue He is so big and above and other from us His exact purposes were fulfilled while allowing the artists to use their own freewill and abilities that God had given them. God respected their person while still arriving at His purposes.

God's work-Ex. 36: 2
2And Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab and every craftsman in whose mind the LORD had put skill, everyone(B) whose heart stirred him up to come to do the work.
When God asks us to do something He gives us direction about what he wants, the know how to do it, and the desire to do it as well.
Fear: does that cut across our free will? Would we have wanted to do it if God had not given us the desire? And if not do we really want to do it, or is it something fake in us that is not us but what implanted in us? And if it has been implanted in us is that ok? Is that part of dying to ourselves and realizing that God is in control and has a right to do whatever He wants?
3And they received from Moses all the(C) contribution that the people of Israel had brought for doing the work on the sanctuary. They still kept bringing him(D) freewill offerings every morning, 4so that all the craftsmen who were doing every sort of task on the sanctuary came, each from the task that he was doing, 5and said to Moses,(E) "The people bring much more than enough for doing the work that the LORD has commanded us to do." 6So Moses gave command, and word was proclaimed throughout the camp, "Let no man or woman do anything more for the(F) contribution for the sanctuary." So the people were restrained from bringing, 7for the material they had was sufficient to do all the work, and more.
God is not selfish. He took only what was needed for the work. He is generous as well because He gave those things to the people in the first place.
God loves beauty. The directions for the tabernacle were very ornate and must have been impressive to see compared to the wilderness that the Jews traveled in for 40 years.

Ex 33-35 giving
God gets angry with His people.
Moses is called friend and God shelters him From God's righteousness and power. We cannot stand in the presence of God without Christ.
God then gives the law again. He has Moses write it down I am unsure if the significance of this but I am sure it is great.
God asks the people to make a freewill offering to Him. Giving out of their heart to Him.
I just think that it is interesting that the book ends of these chapters both have to do with giving. God giving the law and Israel giving gifts to make God's house beautiful.

The cost Ex 32:25-29
25And when Moses saw that the people had broken loose (for Aaron had let them break loose,(CV) to the derision of their enemies), 26then Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said, "Who is on the LORD’s side? Come to me." And all the sons of Levi gathered around him. 27And he said to them, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel, 'Put your sword on your side each of you, and go to and fro from gate to gate throughout the camp, and each of you(CW) kill his brother and his companion and his neighbor.'" 28And the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses. And that day about three thousand men of the people fell. 29And Moses said, "Today you have been(CX) ordained for the service of the LORD, each one at the cost of his son and of his brother, so that he might bestow a blessing upon you this day."
This is screwed up. God asked these men to kill their families and friends for His sake because they sinned. He then ordained them. God said because you will be obedient unto death and I think the death of a loved one when you have to kill them is worse than your own. Go called for a horrible thing and called it good. Do we trust our own judgment or His?

OT and NT principals still the same
11The LORD said to Moses, 12(L) "When you take the census of the people of Israel, then each shall give(M) a ransom for his life to the LORD when you number them, that there be no plague among them when you number them. 13Each one who is numbered in the census shall give this: half a shekel[b] according to the(N) shekel of the sanctuary (the(O) shekel is twenty gerahs),[c](P) half a shekel as an offering to the LORD. 14Everyone who is numbered in the census, from twenty years old and upward, shall give the LORD’s offering. 15The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less, than(Q) the half shekel, when you give the LORD’s offering to make atonement for your lives. 16You shall take the atonement money from the people of Israel and shall(R) give it for the service of the tent of meeting, that it may bring the people of Israel to(S) remembrance before the LORD, so as to make atonement for your lives."
We all need to be ransomed. In the OT the Jews payed the slave price with money. In the NT Jesus paid it with His blood. Either way humanity was and is in bondage to sin. We are slaves and we need to be ransomed. Atonement needs to be made to God's justice and righteousness before we can be acceptable to Him and enjoy fellowship with Him.
God never changes even after thousands of years the price still needed to be payed.
1The LORD said to Moses, 2"See, I have called by name(AP) Bezalel the son of Uri, son of(AQ) Hur, of the tribe of Judah, 3and I have(AR) filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, 4to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, 5in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft.
I just love that a gift from God. A spiritual gift if you will is artistic ability.
6And behold, I have appointed with him(AS) Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. And I have given to all able men(AT) ability, that they may make all that I have commanded you: 7(AU) the tent of meeting, and(AV) the ark of the testimony, and(AW) the mercy seat that is on it, and all the furnishings of the tent, 8(AX) the table and its utensils, and(AY) the pure lampstand with all its utensils, and(AZ) the altar of incense, 9and(BA) the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and(BB) the basin and its stand, 10and(BC) the finely worked garments,[f] the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, for their service as priests, 11and(BD) the anointing oil and the fragrant(BE) incense for the Holy Place. According to all that I have commanded you, they shall do."
God will equip us to do His will.

God's job and our job
Aaron also and his sons I will consecrate to serve me as priests. 45(CO) I will dwell among the people of Israel and will be their God. 46And they shall know that(CP) I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them. I am the LORD their God.
God has very specific instructions on how things are to be done. He has a standard and it is huge.
I was reading in my Child Development textbook that their is a moral stage where children have a set rule book of this is right and this is wrong it is not until later that they grow out of black and white and see complexities in circumstances and are able to make moral decisions. I have been tough both in Ethics class and in NT that the law was our school master that taught us God's standard and what He expects of us. It was a moral rule book but now we are in a new covenant. We have the Holy Spirit and are now "Grown" and able to make our own moral decisions without black and white moral rules.
God told Aaron that He would consecrate His people and make them holy for His service and that God would dwell with His people. The God of the universe chooses to live with His people. That is massive! Why would HE want to do that. We are not even what He created us to be but fallen. it is amazing. God wants to be with us and
makes us holy so we can be with Him. All we have to do is respond and obey. It is hard to lose oneself.
